A little Halloween spirit, a familiar Missouri landmark, and a great cause.
Not every project that comes across the Huntzman Design Desk is simply about creating another piece of custom insignia. Sometimes, a patch becomes an opportunity to make a difference in the community.
That's exactly the idea behind our latest project for the Byrnes Mill Police Department in Missouri.
For Halloween 2026, Huntzman Enterprises produced a special 4.5-inch fully embroidered patch, combining some spooky seasonal imagery with a recognizable local landmark.
But there's something even better behind this particular design.
It's being offered as a limited-edition fundraiser to support the department's Shop With a Hero program.
A Little Halloween Magic in Byrnes Mill
The centerpiece of the design features the historic Byrnes Mill waterwheel and mill building, transformed into a Halloween scene beneath a dramatic moonlit sky.
A familiar-looking skeletal character sits beside a glowing jack-o'-lantern, while a nearby gravestone, bare trees and an oversized full moon add just the right amount of Halloween atmosphere.
The surrounding landscape is filled with deep purples, fiery oranges, yellows and greens, creating a colorful contrast against the dark nighttime setting.
The department's BYRNES MILL POLICE identification remains prominent, while the traditional Thin Blue Line and small jack-o'-lantern accents complete the design.
It's a fun departure from traditional regulation insignia, while still maintaining a recognizable connection to the department and its community.
Bringing the Artwork to Life Through Embroidery
The finished patch measures 4.5 inches high and features fully embroidered construction.
With a design this detailed, embroidery presents some interesting challenges.
Between the mill building, waterwheel, moonlit sky, skeletal character and surrounding landscape, there are numerous small elements competing for space.
Careful attention to thread colors, contrast and stitch placement helps preserve the individual details while maintaining the overall appearance of the original artwork.
The result is a colorful seasonal patch that captures the spirit of Halloween without sacrificing the department's identity.
A Patch With a Purpose
While the artwork certainly makes this patch stand out, the real story is what the department is doing with it.
The Byrnes Mill Police Department is offering this patch as a limited-edition fundraiser for its Shop With a Hero program.
Programs like Shop With a Hero provide opportunities for law-enforcement officers to connect with children and families in their communities through positive, meaningful experiences.
It's an opportunity to strengthen relationships, create lasting memories and remind people that community policing extends well beyond responding to calls for service.
And in this case, a Halloween collectible becomes a way for supporters, residents and patch collectors to help contribute to that mission.
Limited Edition — For a Good Cause
Unlike a traditional uniform patch, this Halloween design was created specifically as a seasonal collectible and fundraiser.
Only a limited number are being produced, making it a special addition for collectors of police insignia, Halloween patches and Missouri law-enforcement memorabilia.
More importantly, purchasing one helps support a program intended to make a positive difference in the community.
More Than Just a Patch
At Huntzman Enterprises, we've always believed that custom insignia can represent much more than an agency name or unit designation.
Sometimes it commemorates history. Sometimes it celebrates a milestone.
And sometimes, as with this project, it helps support something worthwhile.
We're pleased to have produced this special Halloween patch for the Byrnes Mill Police Department and its Shop With a Hero fundraising effort.
After all, Halloween is supposed to be about treats.
This time, the real treat is helping make a difference.
