From the Design Desk: NYPD Halloween Parade 2026
Halloween in New York City deserves something a little darker.
For our latest seasonal project, Huntzman Enterprises headed into the shadows to create the NYPD New York City Halloween Parade 2026 Police Patch—a design combining some unmistakable New York City imagery with a decidedly more sinister visitor.
And really...
Who better to patrol Halloween night than the Grim Reaper himself?
New York City After Dark
The centerpiece of the design features a hooded Grim Reaper emerging from a darkened Manhattan backdrop, surrounded by purple storm clouds and illuminated by an eerie full moon.
In one hand, he carries his traditional scythe.
In the other?
An NYPD shield marked 2026.
Because apparently even Death needs proper ID in New York City.
Behind him, the skyline brings together several recognizable elements of the city, including the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge, all rendered in a dark Halloween palette of black, gray, purple and muted gold.
Cobwebs frame the lower corners, while the distressed orange NEW YORK CITY lettering and purple HALLOWEEN PARADE legend complete the seasonal look.
Fidelis Ad Mortem
One of our favorite smaller details is found on the Reaper's scythe.
Worked directly into the blade is the NYPD motto: FIDELIS AD MORTEM — “Faithful Unto Death.”
It's an appropriate finishing touch for a design built around the Grim Reaper—and a phrase with a long connection to the traditions of the NYPD.
Sometimes it's the smaller details that bring an entire design together.
Why Woven?
This patch measures 4.5 inches wide and was produced using woven construction.
With a design containing this many fine elements—from the skeletal features and lettering to the architecture, badge and background details—woven construction allowed us to achieve much sharper definition than would normally be possible with traditional embroidered thread at this size.
That was especially important because we wanted the finished patch to retain the atmosphere of the original artwork without allowing the individual elements to disappear into the darkness.
The result is a patch that's intentionally dark and moody but still lets the important details stand out.
Halloween — New York Style
New York City has no shortage of characters wandering the streets on Halloween.
For 2026, we figured we'd add one more.
Dark, slightly sinister, unmistakably New York and filled with small details for collectors to discover, the NYPD New York City Halloween Parade 2026 Patch is another seasonal creation straight from the Huntzman Design Desk.
The 4.5-inch woven patch is available now in the Huntzman NYPD Shop.
Just remember…
If you happen to see this particular guy walking toward you on Halloween night?
Maybe don't ask to see his shield.
